Welcome
Ram was gifted an Agfa Click III at age 10 or so. That kick-started a lifelong passion for photography; he graduated to flash photography of events in his mid-teens. Ram dabbled in B&W Industrial photography in his late teens and learnt valuable lessons on exploiting available light and managing light especially in medium format cameras. In the pre-digital era, Ram processed his films and printed them as well—He started a photo lab and a photography club in his IIT days.
In his early thirties, Ram graduated to Nikon via Pentax, and went through a range of film cameras before seamlessly going digital in the late 1990s. He has been an ardent fan of Nikon since.
Ram’s first wildlife pictures were in 1980 and the excitement and passion has grown over the years. Today, he uses a Nikon D5 and Z6ii with a range of Nikkor lenses. For wildlife photography, the D5 mated with a 70-400 f4.5/5.6 fitted with a Tiii x1.4 tele extender and a Z6ii with a f2.8 80-200 lens and Tii x2 tele extender almost exclusively. For landscapes, sunsets, sunrises, architecture, B/W and vistas, Ram uses a range of Leicas with Leica, Nikkor and Voigtlander lenses. For portrait and scenes rich in colour and night photography Ram uses the digital Hasselblad with the native lenses. Wildlife constitutes 70% of his work.
Ram has been printing bespoke calendars using his pictures for friends, family and acquaintances since 2010. He is a keen organic gardener, a casual golfer, and a music lover. In professional life Ram is a management consultant, advisor, board member, executive coach, and teacher. He has traveled extensively all across the globe in the interests of photography.
